An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse to lead and deliver person centred nursing care within the dynamic health environment of the Department of Emergency Medicine (ED), Gympie. The RN acts as a leader in the coordination and delivery of nursing/midwifery care and has a wider role contributing to education, research, quality and safety in order to achieve the best patient outcomes. The Department of Emergency Medicine (ED) provides a non-discretionary 24-hour emergency care. This service provides initial treatment for all, and definitive care for many, emergency presentations and the resuscitation and stabilisation of emergencies prior to transfer when required. The service is provided for both adults and children. The nursing staff of Gympie DEM also provide care to the inpatient area co-located with the short-stay unit.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 5 and the Queensland Public Service values.
  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
  • Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
  • Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and ethical behaviour.

Salary between $82 753 - $106 144 p.a. (f/t), or salary rates: $41.73 - $53.53 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) (Nurse Grade 5) (Permanent Full Time and/or Part Time (hrs negotiable) positions available).
