The Senior Project Officer is within the Accommodation and Facilities (A&F) team, Corporate Services, the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). The position is responsible for implementing sustainability initiatives, such as those related to reducing waste and carbon emissions, while assisting with the management of DETSl's portfolio of leased accommodation.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will work with internal stakeholders to identify implement sustainability related initiatives such as those related to reducing waste  and the department's carbon emissions. The role will also work within the A&F team on accommodation and lease management tasks.

This will involve:

  • the preparation and implementation of programs and behaviour change initiatives within DE TSI to, for example, increase the department's waste diversion rates and reduce carbon emissions.
  • proactively manage lease arrangements and undertake critical analysis of accommodation issues to service existing and/or emergent accommodation requirements in alignment with department goals.
  • advocate and represent the department at whole of government forums, building tenancy committees and workgroups, related to delivery of accommodation related projects, activities and services.
  • preparation of written reports of a high quality and standard within predetermined timeframes
  • foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
