The Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET) regional network provides localised service delivery across the departmental priority areas of trade, employment and training. The effective departmental service delivery is achieved through the regulation of the state's apprenticeship and traineeship system; strategic training and skills investment strategies; informing consumers about the suite of departmental programs; supporting a quality Vocational Education and Training sector; and providing whole of government leadership on employment and training issues.
About the role
As the Senior Field Officer, you will:
• Provide leadership, support and advice to industry partners, client groups, and stakeholders on the regional programs and services administered by the department across employment and training areas.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary team environment and support, manage, and supervise staff or operate independently, as per operational requirements, adopting a whole-of-DTET approach to service delivery.
• Identify opportunities for the development and implementation of a range of targeted projects designed to support the economic participation of Queenslanders of diverse backgrounds.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who can:
• Highly developed conceptual, analytical, research, and computer skills.
• The ability to analyse information, data, and trends to present findings through reports and presentations.
• The ability to work collaboratively with staff, clients, and stakeholders to develop and implement regional specific strategies.
• The ability to undertake or contribute to presentations to stakeholders, mediation with parties in conflict situations, briefings to senior managers, preparation of ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, and reports.
• The ability to represent the region and department on working groups and committees regarding a wide range of issues relating to employment and training.
• The ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with a range of stakeholders across cultures, management and staff as evidenced by the
achievement of business objectives and performance targets.
• Well-developed planning and organisation skills, including the ability to meet expectations and deadlines, through the achievement of business objectives and performance targets and accurate completion of work within pre-determined timeframes and a framework of accountability.
• Demonstrate a growth mindset, commitment to personal development, proactivity, and public sector professionalism and accountability.
