Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Provide leadership and direction to plan, coordinate and facilitate training programs in area of responsibility in support of improved professionalism, effectiveness and efficiency of staff and the Service in accordance with relevant service and national standards.
• Manage coordination of pre-service and in-service training calendars to schedule training and professional development for staff.
• Identify, develop, and implement strategies and provide advice on efficient coordination of training needs and activities relevant to area of responsibility.
• Coordinate and manage initial training and induction for new police officers and staff members to ensure the development of professional and qualified training officers and to ensure completion of requisite and mandatory training within negotiated time frames.
• Identify and monitor trends and emerging issues in education and training to identify efficiencies, consistency and enhance service delivery outcomes.
• Provide the professional expertise necessary for consultation and advisory services for senior managers in relation to the implementation of best practice with innovative approaches to the evaluation of education and training.
• Cultivate relationships, establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external clients, stakeholders and service providers.
• Manage and coordinate, the risk management for the work unit and ensure reporting compliance in liaison with the OIC including hearing and blood tests.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
• While there are no mandatory requirement for this role, possession of a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training or qualifications deemed equivalent will be considered favourably.
Special Requirements
• The occupant of this position will supervise staff, sworn officers and recruits in the delivery of education and training.
• An Open ‘C' class licence is required.
• The successful applicant may be required to successfully complete all relevant operational skills and tactics and/or driving skills courses if not already in possession of equivalent qualifications including District Firearms Training Officer, Police Operational Skills and Tactics Instructors, Taser Instructor, Active Armed Offender Instructor, Tactical First Aid Training Instructors and Driver Training courses.
HEARING
• The successful applicant will be required to undergo a baseline hearing assessment by a QPS approved PEMS provider. The hearing assessment will be evaluated without the use of artificial aids and a loss of 35 decibels on the ISO 389 scale (at 500, 1000, 2000Hz), no more than 40 decibels (at 3000Hz) and no more than 50 decibels (at 4000Hz on a pure tone audiometer) in either ear is considered significant and is normally unacceptable for recruiting purposes. Successful applicants will be required to undergo yearly hearing tests and at any time as deemed necessary by QPS
BLOOD LEAD LEVEL
• The successful applicant will be required to undergo a baseline blood level test prior to commencing firearms activities and will be required to undertake further testing as deemed necessary by QPS.
• The successful applicant may be required to perform duty within any program/branch of Operational Training Services.
