The Explosives Inspectorate is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to join our team as an Administration Support Officer.

This role supports the maintenance of the statewide Explosives Security and Authority Management (ESAM) database, processes security clearances under the Explosives Act 1999, and assists licensing officers and the operations team with administrative tasks related to explosives activities in Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate security clearance applications and liaise with Australia Post, QPS, and federal agencies.
  • Process and manage Criminal History Checks and clearance requests in line with legislation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurately manage the Explosives Security and Authority Management (ESAM) database.
  • Support licensing and operations teams with administrative tasks related to explosives activities, including fireworks, blasting, and import/export notifications.
  • Assist with prosecution administration and correspondence for inspectors.

Key Challenges:

  • Handling sensitive personal and legal information.
  • Managing competing priorities and system issues.
  • Responding professionally to challenging customer enquiries.
