The Security and Counter-Terrorism Network (SCTN) is part of the Prepare, Prevent, Protect Group within the Security and Counter-Terrorism Command. The SCTN enhances the security and counter-terrorism capability across the Queensland Police Service (QPS) by providing quality support and assistance to regional frontline police and specialised capabilities to enhance their ability to detect, prevent and respond to security and counter-terrorism incidents.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Support the QPS Strategic Plan through the provision of intelligence services to Command and Regions in the assessment of problems places, cases and issues.
  • Provide analytical advice and recommendations to QPS officers in relation to specific investigations and operations.
  • Plan and prepare intelligence assessments in relation to crime and other community safety matters utilising accepted intelligence processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective networks within the QPS and with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of effective work practices.
  • Utilise technology to provide open source and social media enhancement to support organisational priorities

  • The successful applicant/s will be required to perform duty within any Group/Unit within the surrounding area where Crime & Intelligence Command/District Intel conducts business.
  • The successful applicant/s may be required to undergo psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
  • Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
  • The successful applicant/s must undertake intelligence training delivered by the Queensland Police Service in line with current policy.
  • Shift work may be a requirement of this role.
