We're looking for a talented and passionate Principal Policy Officer with experience in both policy development and project delivery to join our Healthy Waters team. This role will be pivotal in leading governance of large program reviews (including Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program), strategic and research guidance considerations connected to the State Interest - Water Quality under the State Planning Policy, and emerging contaminant issues.

As the Principal Policy Officer, you will:
• Develop responsive, innovative, evidenced-based, practical policy and programs that deliver desired outcomes and value for money.
• Lead the analysis of research results including data, gap identification, interpretation and development of policy and legislation associated with waterway and catchment management
• Project manage waterway and catchment improvement programs within urban and rural footprints, including funding agreements.
• Develop partnerships with stakeholders in governments, industry, natural resource management organisations, community and research institutions to support the development, funding and implementation of projects for the improvement of waterway and catchment health.
• Provide briefings and high-level policy, planning and program advice to senior officers for the Director-General, Minister and Cabinet (oral and written).
• Provide strategic and operational advice to natural resource management, community, industry and other agency organisations on the department's policy, planning and programs.
• Mentor other principal, senior and policy officers within the team.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
