Operational Services Officers play an essential part in running an effective and safe hospital. This position is non-clinical assisting in the running of the hospital and health services by supporting clinical operations in the areas of porterage, cleaning, food services, linen, and waste management.

We are seeking applicants that can demonstrate their ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritise tasks, can follow correct protocol for procedures and report maintenance and identified risk issues.

About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Queensland and the main referral hub for the region. A number of exciting initiatives are underway including the construction of a new multi-level car park. Once complete, it will provide 597 parking spaces for staff, patients and visitors to the hospital.

Rockhampton Hospital will play an important role in achieving the objectives set out in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy. We will deliver expert care close to home by investing in a range of specialist services at Rockhampton Hospital for all Central Queenslanders.

About the role:

Operational Services Officers – Porterage, Cleaning, Food Services, Linen Services, Waste Services, Resource Pool support clinical staff to deliver the best possible care to patients. From providing nutritious meals, to transporting patients throughout the hospital, to keeping our hospital clean, providing clean linen and collection of all waste across the campus. Operational Services Officers are integral to running an effective and safe hospital.  

About you:

  • Demonstrate your ability to work with minimum supervision and able to work efficiently in order to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills in the area that you are applying for e.g. Food, Cleaning, Porterage, Linen and Waste. (If you are applying for a porterage position, please demonstrate your experience in the role).
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize where improvements are required, and the process involved in implementing the changes.

What we offer:

  • An hourly rate between $39.05 - $41.66 p.h. (including 25% casual loading)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
