About us:

The Central Queensland Public Health Unit (CQPHU) is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health of the Central Queensland community through disease prevention, control, and emergency health response. As part of its routine operations, CQPHU also conducts industry-sponsored clinical trials and other public health and clinical research, contributing to the advancement of healthcare in the region. CQPHU consists of a multi-disciplinary team of staff including Public Health Physicians, Public Health Nurses, Environmental Health officers, Public Health Epidemiologists, Data Officer, and business services staff, including some with regional wide roles.

About the role:

  • The Clinical Nurse will contribute to the planning and implementation of clinical trials conducted within the unit, ensuring adherence to relevant protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide education and training to internal and external key stakeholders on communicable diseases and control, and Immunisation.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals and organisations to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to increase vaccination coverage.
  • Participate in project planning and management of identified health promotion, immunisation and communicable disease prevention activities and provide relevant expert advice to the public and community groups.

About you:

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practicing certificate are mandatory for this position.

Whilst not mandatory, a relevant post-graduate qualification and/or experience related to public health or infectious disease would be well regarded.

  • Evidence of completion or ability to undertake Nurse Immuniser training would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in clinical trials and certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP-ICH) is desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $131,900 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
