About the role

As part of the Office of the Official Solicitor, you'll offer front-line, customer-focused legal services that are essential to supporting the multifaceted work of the Queensland Public Trustee (QPT). Our team addresses a broad spectrum of legal challenges, including complex litigation in probate, succession, and disability matters, as well as conveyancing and property transactions. Your legal acumen will be instrumental in guiding the QPT in any of its capacities.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our Customer Experience and Delivery staff, providing timely, high-quality legal advice to help manage customer legal matters efficiently. You'll also represent the QPT before courts and tribunals, ensuring our legal positions are effectively communicated and upheld. Whether you are advising on intricate legal issues, managing contentious probate cases, or handling property-related transactions, your contributions will directly impact our mission to provide exceptional legal services and support to Queenslanders.

About you

You bring a solid foundation in legal practice with a focus on delivering high-quality, efficient, and customer-oriented legal services. Your experience or ability to quickly adapt to complex legal environments will be crucial in providing effective representation and advice. You are an excellent communicator, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.

To excel in this role, the following attributes will be your keys to success:

  • Proficiency in property law, succession law, elder/disability law, equity and trusts, and litigation across state and commonwealth courts and tribunals
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment in all legal matters
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic legal environment, handling complex and diverse cases with innovative solutions
  • Commitment to delivering superior legal services with a customer-focused approach, ensuring timely and effective resolution of legal issues
  • A degree in Law or equivalent, with admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland
  • Eligibility for a current practicing certificate and entry in the High Court Register of Practitioners.
