Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

In this Administration Officer role, you will provide high quality customer service, demonstrating understanding, empathy, patience, and professionalism toward patients and colleagues. The role responsibilities include efficiently managing appointment bookings and performing various administrative tasks to support the Townsville Oral Health Service.

What's on offer?
Two positions available, please see relevant details as follows:

1 x Fixed Term Temporary Full-time commencing ASAP up to 06/07/2026 (with the possibility of extension - not exceeding two (2) years in total)

Plus, 1 x Fixed Term Temporary Part-time from 16/06/2025 up to 17/05/2026, 56 hours per fortnight (with the possibility of extension - not exceeding two (2) years in total)

Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $97,656 p.a.

  • Salary range: $76,963 - $85,591 p.a. (f/t) or $38.81 - $43.16 p.h. (p/t) (AO3)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus attractive Salary Sacrificing options
  • Flexible working arrangements may be available

About the role

  • Undertake reception and phone enquiries to ensure clinics are operated in an efficient manner and support a high level of chair and resource utilisation.
  • Ensure Emergency waitlisted patients are booked for their appointments within the clinically recommended timeframe where possible and refer to line manager when issues arise. 
  • Manage patient bookings from Priority, General and Recall waitlists at the direction of the team leader and/or Senior clinicians.
  • Data entry is accurate and complete within the patient booking record for additions, changes and demographics etc.  This includes scanning patient information into the patient record.
