Your new role as Senior Statistician/Analyst will be in the Crime Statistics (CS) team of the Crime Statistics and Research (CSR) unit within Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO). You will provide statistical services at a project management and/or senior team member level.

The Key Responsibilities

Undertake high level statistical analysis and provide advice on crime and justice statistics.

Prepare and/or draft statistical reports, submissions, briefing notes, statistical commentary, presentations, documents, and correspondence for senior officers.

Lead and participate in project teams as required and manage activities to ensure outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.

Plan, coordinate, compile and monitor the production and publication of crime and justice statistics.

Actively promote statistical standards and review statistical data in consultation with relevant government agencies.

Assist in the implementation and operation of statistical processing systems, and in the provision of training and information workshops.

Edit publications and maintain systems to ensure effective statistical information dissemination utilising electronic publications.

Provide high level technical advice, information and support to clients and senior officers on complex diverse issues.

Success Criteria

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in R, for data extraction and analysis.
  • A strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate statistical insights effectively to a target audience.
  • The ability to apply effective judgement, communication and understanding of perspectives in developing solutions and working with others.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to navigate, lead and manage competing work priorities in complex and, at times, fast paced environments.
