About the opportunity:

Position: Staff Specialist Gerontology

Vacancy: Temporary part-time from 30/06/2025 to 28/06/2025 / 64 hours per fortnight

Location: Gerontology / Medical Service Group / Townsville University Hospital, Townsville

The role of the Staff Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients / clients of the THHS. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

• Specialist Registration: You will hold Geriatric Medicine specialist registration (or be eligible to hold) with AHPRA. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
• Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate.
• Travel: this position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
• Probation period may apply.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted including Criminal History Checks.
