We are looking for a Principal Policy Officer to join our high performing team in Invasive Plants & Animals:
• Lead the analysis of policy options addressing either critical issues or complex problems relevant to the program or program stakeholders.
• Engage and collaborate with a range of relevant policy stakeholders across all stages of the policy development, implementation and review process to facilitate effective consultation and communication and to support, and where required, advocate, the organisation’s policy position.

Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. BQ monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks.
Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.
As our Principal Policy Officer, you will provide policy development skills that to help manage the impacts of invasive plants and animals in Queensland. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy.
