In this role you will:
• Drive initiatives to position Queensland's largest industry, worth more than $60 billion, as an international leader in mining and resources, and to ensure efficiencies through aligned, integrated, and equitable service delivery, processes, and systems.
• Provide expert strategic advice and analysis, information and guidance to the Director-General, Minister and Ministerial Advisors on any matters relating to the Georesources portfolio.
• Foster a high-performing culture by providing strategic leadership and vision to the Georesources Division.
• Participate and add value as a key member of the department's leadership team with particular focus on delivering against the department's strategic plan and priorities.
• Cultivate constructive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and integrated responses to customers and stakeholders.
• Represent Queensland in various state and federal forums and committees that require a content-specific perspective and ensure that the interests of the resources sector and the department are represented.
• Lead the development and implementation of strategies, programs, regulatory frameworks and initiatives that drive the economic and social outcomes of Queensland's resources sector and our communities.
• Maintain the global capacity and reputation of the Geological Survey of Queensland.
• Deliver world-class spatial and information solutions and systems for Queensland in a constantly changing and competitive marketplace.
• Ensure the responsible management of the state's abandoned mines and non commercial water assets so that the economic and social capital provided by those resources creates enduring value.

This position requires:
• A dynamic and proactive leader with the ability to lead a diverse division and engage others to deliver outcomes.
• A successful track record and proven achievement in program development/implementation.
• Experience with leading people through the planning and implementation of change.
• Experience working as an executive team member with political astuteness and ability to navigate highly sensitive environments.
• Clear business and commercial acumen, with knowledge and ability to drive strategic change, manage budgets, manage people and delegations according to business requirements and governance frameworks.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in negotiation, networking, consultation, facilitation, influence and communication (both written and oral).
• Understanding of the resources sector operations and strategic deliverables, to the state.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
