The Director, Business Support contributes to the overall strategic direction of the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support by providing high level advice to the Deputy Director-General relating to strategic policy, coordinating high level briefings and building sustainable partnerships across the organisations to support effective and contemporary youth justice services delivery.

This also includes providing direction and advice to the senior executives who report directly to the Deputy Director-General within a policy, practice and operational issues impacting the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support.

As Director, Business Support, you will specifically:

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement a comprehensive Human Resources Strategy for the Office of the Deputy Director-General and the Office of the Senior Executive Directors to drive significant change in operational performance.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to a team of human resources, finance and administrative professionals.
  • Develop, maintain, implement and continuously review strategies, policies and processes to facilitate the effective utilisation of financial and human resources to facilitate the achievement of the division's business objectives.
  • Oversee a comprehensive organisational structural review of youth detention centres, regions, victim support by negotiating changes with key executives, and developing a detailed change pathway.
  • Resource and lead ad hoc staffing and operational practices for the department as required by the Deputy Director-General.
  • Build and sustain strong collaborative partnerships across the department, other government agencies and with service providers.
  • Ensure the timely preparation, accuracy and quality of major reports, briefings, budget documents, submissions, speeches and correspondence for Cabinet, the Minister and the Director-General.
  • Manage the human, financial and operational resources of the Business Support team to ensure the achievement of strategic and business objectives.
