About the role

The Nurse Unit Manager – Emergency Department is a Registered Nurse who demonstrates advanced clinical, management and organisational knowledge and management of the human, financial and material resources within the Ipswich Emergency Department.

The Nurse Unit Manager – Emergency Department (Ipswich Hospital)

  • has an advanced level of clinical and professional practice;
  • will apply professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and midwifery and other stakeholders;
  • will be responsible for integrating strategies which support a work-based culture that promotes and supports ongoing education, learning, research and workforce developments.

Ipswich Hospital provides initial treatment and definitive care for many emergency presentations and the resuscitation and stabilisation of emergencies prior to transfer or retrieval, when required. The service is supported by an on-site laboratory and medical imaging department with Computerised Tomography (CT) and Ultrasound capability and 24-hour emergency operating theatre access.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated high level of Emergency Department clinical leadership, clinical practice and recent expertise in Emergency nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at a senior level of skill, knowledge and expertise and provide independent professional judgement and proficiency in problem solving and management in the Emergency Care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and collaborate at a work unit/service area level and/or across professions to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply quality assurance processes including participation in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Proven ability in the application of highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills
