Key responsibilities:
• Apply contemporary project management and planning and design principals, to manage your own projects while mentoring junior designers to ensure timely delivery of their projects.
• Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the planning and design of road infrastructure projects.
• Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure fit for purpose, value for money and best practice are achieved.
• Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to in order to facilitate the delivery of road projects to a high and consistent standard for both Main Roads and clients.
• Supervise and the prepare of contract documentation, project specifications, drawings, and estimates of cost to the appropriate standards for road infrastructure projects.
• Determine the engineering requirements, including resources, critical components and systems, involved in supporting project management and delivery.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• A Sydney Accord accredited three-year degree in Engineering or recognised equivalence.

Requirements of the role:
• Makes insightful decisions, analyses available data and supports others to identify essential information to uncover the cause of issues.
• Builds enduring relationships, initiates two-way collaborations by providing information and advice in a timely, proactive and non-technical manner, supporting the team to do the same. Sets up connections for the team across the organisation to drive collaborative delivery of services.
• Works with the team to evaluate options and develop appropriate plans to mitigate risks.
• Demonstrates extensive experience in all of the planning and design competency elements and contributes to the development of the capabilities of others.
• Manage your own projects using established project management methodologies while mentoring junior designers to ensure timely delivery of their projects.
• Desirable: Extensive (ten years or more relevant) experience in the planning and design of transport infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
• Desirable: Experience with AutoCAD and 12d Model software packages is highly desirable.
• Desirable: A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence.
