Business Manager - Crescent Lagoon State School

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic permanent part-time Business Manager to join the leadership team at our vibrant primary school at Crescent Lagoon State School. This role is offered at 0.40 FTE and 29 hours per fortnight.

In this key role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school’s finances and administration, while providing vital support to the Principal in the strategic leadership of financial planning and resource allocation. Your attention to detail and strong organisational skills will ensure our school runs smoothly and efficiently.

While finance will be your primary focus, the role may also involve supporting broader school operations, including Workplace Health and Safety.

About Crescent Lagoon State School

Crescent Lagoon State School is a Band 8 school, catering for approximately 440 students from Preparatory to Year 6. The school is set on approximately one hectare, bounded by Eton street, North Street Extended and Willis Streets and services the western suburbs of Rockhampton and nearby outer areas. There is a range of cultural, racial, social and economic backgrounds in the Crescent Lagoon State School population.

Our facilities include fully air-conditioned teaching and administration blocks, basketball and tennis courts, a 25 metre heated pool, modern fully stocked resource centre and interactive televisions in all classrooms.

Crescent Lagoon State School experiences a positive and respected profile throughout the Rockhampton district. Our school is promoted actively in the media for activities such as the Anzac Day, Red Cross and Cancer Foundation fundraising. Our school provides outstanding opportunities in physical education and sport, and academic and cultural activities.

About the Role

You'll work collaboratively with our existing Business Manager (0.6 FTE), contributing to a cohesive and capable administrative team. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate autonomously in the provision of business services to the school, in an environment that at times exhibits a degree of complexity and frequently requires the interpretation of information and adaptation of processes.
  • Provide a comprehensive range of administrative support (e.g. preparation of reports, and correspondence) and identify problems, conduct research, seek expert advice, recommend solutions.
  • Undertake the day to day supervision and management of school support staff, including monitoring workloads and performance (working in collaboration with the Principal for any difficult performance management situations); identifying workforce capability requirements; and role modelling performance standards. In addition, this role will oversee for school support staff the signatories/approval of timesheets, leave applications, rosters, arrange relief; and organise, undertake and coordinate the recruitment, induction and training of school support staff.
