This position undertakes systems and practice reviews following the death or serious physical injury of a child known to the department under the Child Protection Act 1999.

A systems and practice review is a dynamic process which engages with documentation, staff and partner agencies to facilitate ongoing learning and improvement in the provision of services by the department and to promote the accountability of the department.

The Senior Review Officer key responsibilities are:

• Produce well researched, high quality systems and practice reviews in accordance with legislation, policy and procedures that are aligned with the values of the Strengthening Families, Protecting Children Framework for Practice.
• Maintain and continually enhance current knowledge about contemporary child protection policy, practice and trends, in particular as it relates to systems and practice reviews, through ongoing training and research.
• Work in partnership with other internal and external stakeholders to lead and enable curiosity and learning in the effective conduct of systems and practice
reviews and to contribute to ongoing system improvements to ensure the safety, belonging and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Critically analyse information relating to systems and practice reviews to identify ongoing opportunities for improvement in the delivery of child protection services to Queensland children and provide high level advice to the Systems and Practice Review Committee for their consideration in identifying themes, learnings and opportunities to influence the department's continuing reform agenda.
• Contribute to the dissemination of systems and practice review learnings through the development of papers, reports, presentations and workshops both at a local and systems level.
• Actively participate as a team member in the evaluation, development and implementation of system and practice review policy, procedures and methodologies to achieve best practice case review processes.
