Role details

The Workforce Partnerships and Professional Development team at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Forensic Liaison Officer (Senior Occupational Therapist or Senior Psychologist or Senior Social Worker or Clinical Nurse Consultant)) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The purpose of the Forensic Liaison Officer (FLO) position is to ensure oversight, monitoring and coordination of the care of forensic order and high- risk patients, as per the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016 and relevant State-Wide policies, including Chief Psychiatrist Policy – “Treatment and Care of Forensic Order, Treatment Support Order and High-Risk Patients”. The aim of the position is to develop the capacity of the mental health service to confidently work with forensic patients using a range of recovery-oriented strategies such as case management that may be time limited, co-case management, coordinating and facilitating professional development opportunities, facilitating access to the specialist forensic service and supporting and mentoring case managers who are caring for forensic and high-risk complex consumers.

Staff members of the Workforce Partnerships and Professional Development Team, work within a multi-disciplinary team framework to deliver high quality services safely and with a robust culture of continuing improvement. Staff work collaboratively with each other and with consumers, their families/carers and external service providers.
