About us:
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Wellbeing Directorate is an essential element of the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service. The service provides expert advice and guides the delivery of culturally appropriate health service planning and workforce management strategies to achieve optimal access, experience, and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
About the role:
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Hospital Liaison Service provides specialist cultural support and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients (their families and carers) accessing the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
- The Indigenous Hospital Liaison Officer (IHLO) liaises, coordinates care and advocates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients to ensure they receive effective, coordinated and culturally capable care.
- Improve the sensitivity and understanding of all health care providers with respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural beliefs and other issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- This position may, in response to fluctuations and variations in workloads between areas, be called upon to assist, on a time-limited ‘crisis-response' basis to the other Indigenous Hospital Liaison Officers in other areas within the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
About you:
- Applicants should hold either Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
- Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Applicants who do not hold the mandatory qualification requirements, but believe they have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the role as outlined, and will commit to completing the qualification(s) within an agreed timeframe if appointed, are encouraged to apply for this vacancy. Should the applicant be successful, employment will be at the no qualification pay point until evidence of completion of the required qualification(s) is provided. What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $114,355 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $37.87 - $50.54 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
