The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Health Worker - Advanced (Sexual Health - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander – Identified) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, develop case management and healthcare plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Promote and provide STI and BBV testing and screening opportunities within the Gold Coast Sexual Health Service
- Engage with community members to strengthen community involvement in improving culturally appropriate sexual health service delivery
- Empower individuals and families towards reducing transmission and morbidity related to BBV and STI among First Nations peoples
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Qualification information – see attached role description
- Mandatory Possession of a current First Aid certificate
- Working with Children check
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Driver Licence
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent part time (43.2 hrs p.f.).
- Base salary ranging from $37.87 - $52.08 per hour
About Us
Gold Coast Sexual Health Service (GCSHS) provides multidisciplinary care testing, management, and prevention of STIs and HIV infection including the provision of pre- and post exposure prophylaxis for HIV infection. It comprises a cohesive team of specialist doctors, nurses, allied health clinicians (pharmacist and psychologist) and an administrative team. GCSHS actively participates in research and works collaboratively with the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) Clinical Trials Unit, as well as academic partners at Griffith University and the University of Queensland.
