About the Role
As the Principal Project Officer, Rural and Remote, this is your opportunity to make a positive impact and contribute to the implementation of a range of key initiatives that support rural, remote and small schools. Working within a small team, you will work with initiative and provide strong organisational, project management and stakeholder engagement skills to help ensure that children and students in rural, remote and small schools are supported to realise their full potential.
This role is based in the Brisbane Central Business District, but may require infrequent travel to various communities within Queensland.
Responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and advance high-quality strategic initiatives and projects to support rural, remote and small schools;
- Support the development, implementation and continual review of programs and projects to support rural, remote and small schools;
- Prepare a range of briefing materials, submissions, papers, reports and other documentation in relation to matters impacting rural, remote and small schools;
- Prepare a range of communications, including correspondence, presentations, speeches, media responses and website content;
- Provide accurate and timely advice and analysis on rural, remote and small schools education matters to senior officers of the branch and division;
- Ensure all corporate processes are followed, and legal and financial requirements are met;
- Contribute to policy analysis and development through conducting research and data analysis on complex matters impacting rural, remote and small schools;
- Coordinate committee meetings and provide secretariat support; and
- Other duties as required.
About You
The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:
- Highly organised, with exceptional project management skills and contract management experience to contribute to the delivery of initiatives that make a positive impact;
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative, and be an adaptable and flexible thinker, focused on working towards streamlined and effective solutions;
- A strong communicator, able to effectively engage and negotiate with a range of stakeholders, to progress the work of the Rural and Remote team;
- High level research, data analysis and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare a range of accurate briefing materials to support senior departmental officers or external stakeholders, as needed;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team environment, delivering quality work within required timeframes.
