Research Analyst

Your role as Research Analyst will be in the Crime Research (CR) team of the Crime Statistics and Research (CSR) unit within Qld Government Statistician's Office (QGSO).
You will use research expertise and relevant software to process, analyse and report on crime and justice trends and research topics. Key priorities of the CR team are set out in QGSO’s Crime Research Agenda.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collate and analyse crime and justice data and information from a range of sources for research projects.
• Prepare and/or draft reports for public release.
• Work with agency data custodians to understand information collection processes to inform crime and justice research projects.
• Coordinate and conduct data quality assurance checking.
• Prepare detailed project proposals and agreements for the provision of research projects.
• Ensure outputs satisfy QGSO standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
• Support the Team Leader in monitoring and organising team activities including allocation of tasks.
• Liaise with data custodians and providers, clients and other stakeholders.
• Represent QGSO at meetings, presentations and working parties as required.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
• very good written and verbal communication skills
• very good data processing and analysis skills - high competency in R or ability to quickly acquire competency in R is highly desirable
• good organisational skills and the ability to navigate, lead and manage competing work priorities in complex and, at times, fast paced environments
• ability to apply effective judgement, communication and understanding of perspectives in developing solutions, working with others and translating research findings.
