Cardiac Scientist (Echosonographer Senior)

Deliver high level cardiac diagnostic testing to a varied nature to inpatients and outpatients of the Rockhampton Hospital within Central Queensland Health as the Cardiac Scientist (Echosonographer Senior).

You will lead quality improvement, research, and service development in alignment with CQ Health and Queensland Health priorities, while focusing on delivering patient-centred, timely care across echocardiography and related areas, with responsibilities spanning inpatient, outpatient, and potential outreach services. About us:

The Cardiac Investigations Unit offers a range of cardiac diagnostic services including echocardiography, exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, exercise stress testing, tilt table testing, and ambulatory Electrocardiogram and Blood Pressure monitoring. Expansion to Cardiac Services will see a Cardiac Catheterisation Lab commence in 2026 with Cardiac Physiologist led haemodynamic monitoring.

About the role:

  • Deliver high level cardiac investigations in one or more diagnostic cardiac modalities, including (but not limited to) Echocardiography, Pacing, Cath Lab, stress testing, dependent on applicants' qualifications and/or extensive experience within the Cardiac Investigations Unit.
  • Facilitate department Senior portfolios including (but not limited to) Clinical Education and Quality Improvement.
  • Facilitate and support research, quality improvement and similar projects related to education, training and workforce development to support best practice, clinical governance and maintenance of professional standards and the provision of safe, effective, patient and family focused care.

About you:

The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree in science/applied science (or equivalent qualification) with a strong component of human anatomy and physiology.

  • Relevant additional or evidence of considerable professional development in areas of cardiac diagnostic services.

Registration or membership with appropriate registration authorities or associations is highly desirable.

  • Where Echocardiography is the applicant's sub-specialty, the successful applicant must provide evidence of the completion or current enrolment in the QUT Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound.
  • Where Echocardiography is the applicant's sub-specialty, registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Sonography Accreditation Registry.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $157,359 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $64.64 - $69.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
