As the Manager, Private Health Regulation Unit (PHRU), you will be responsible for leading and managing policy and legislative projects to ensure adherence with the legislative requirements of the Private Health Facilities Act 1999 and effective regulatory oversight of licensed private health facilities throughout Queensland.  

What you'll do

  • Provide specialist expertise to manage the development and implementation of PHRU project plans, materials, content and stakeholder engagement strategies and use effective communication channels to communicate project purpose, requirements and tasks.
  • Develop complex business cases, project plans, progress reports and closure reports to ensure all stakeholders are fully briefed on objectives, milestones and impacts, tasks and progress, including the identification, assessment, mitigation and escalation of risks and issues.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement including program, policy and legislative review and change implementation processes.
  • Liaise and negotiate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in the design and delivery of implementation of the PHRU regulatory scheme, managing conflicting priorities within tight timeframes, resolving issues, and ensuring cost-effective outcomes are achieved within a constantly changing business environment.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • High level of achievement in leading, managing and completing projects in complex, ambiguous and demanding environments and ensuring project outcomes are achieved and are aligned with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategic and operational responses to key issues .
  • Demonstrated highly developed skills in interpreting, applying and providing authoritative advice on complex legislative frameworks, including the ability to develop key resources applying the legislation to support the implementation of a regulatory scheme.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, consultation and presentation and skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence and maintain effective relationships with senior and multi-disciplinary staff, some of whom may have differing views.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in preparing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on complex program/project budgets and knowledge of the financial pressures and constraints impacting on delivery.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic direction and leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, including displaying behaviours that consistently model personal drive, initiative, responsiveness and adaptability to change.
