In this role you will respond to enquiries and provide information and assistance to staff, patients and visitors to facilitate effective service delivery within a hospital setting and comprehensively support the Inpatient unit, Mental Health and Alcohol, Other Drug Services in the execution of their responsibilities by providing high level, efficient and professional administrative support.

This position works collaboratively as a member of the administrative team for the Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug service. The incumbent performs administrative functions as prioritised through negotiation with the Nurse Unit Manager.
In this role you will:
- Support the Nurse Unit Manager to oversee the management of equipment and building maintenance issues for the Mental Health Unit including the management of internal asset schedules and defect registers as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager.
- Adhere to processes by assisting the office of the Nurse Unit Manager in providing timely and correct data through rostering, leave forms, and sick notification information.
- Comply with and adhere to Queensland Health policies, procedures, standards and legislation relevant to the role and work area.
- Anticipate administrative requirements from medical staff and patients, provide administrative advice and support to contribute to the daily operations of the Mental Health Unit.
- Be an effective team member, willing to learn and contribute to continuous business improvement, innovation and adoption of best practice standards and procedures.
*While not mandatory, relevant experience in medical terminology and advanced typing skill equivalent or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification would be well regarded.
