About Lowood State High School

Lowood State High School is a large rural Queensland school educating students from Year 7 through to Year 12. The school was established in 1983 and is located 32 km north-west of Ipswich. Our students' primary school experiences range from one teacher schools to large primary schools.  A large percentage of our student population travel to school by bus.

Our focus is on preparing students with 21st Century Skills, attributes and qualifications that allow them to progress successfully to the next phase of their life; university, an apprenticeship or traineeship, further training or employment.  We are determined to provide successful learning opportunities, in a manner that is consistent with recent research on effective adolescent learning.

About the Role

Key responsibilities:

  1. Supporting students in a vertical structure (Years 7-12) - Locally known as ‘House Dean' role.
  2. Leading the Social and Emotional curriculum at Year Levels.
  3. Working within a team of House Deans.
  4. Case management of tier 2 and 2 students.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Where requested, prepare all data returns for the Principal.
  • Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals.
