The Mackay Northern Highway Cluster is seeking a Head of Special Education Services to join the team.
This role requires strong leadership in inclusive education practices, fostering quality learning outcomes for all students while building productive relationships that ensure access to the curriculum.
The position is based at Calen District State College and also
supports Bloomsbury State School, Seaforth State School, Pindi Pindi State School, and Glenden State School.

Your Opportunity
As the Head of Special Education Services, you will:
- Promote an inclusive culture and practices within the school community to ensure equity and excellence for students with disability.
- Develop and support a high quality of teaching and adjustments for students with disability in accordance to related legislation and policies.
The Head of Special Education reports to the Principal.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support for students with disabilities.
- Lead and support teachers in developing and implementing effective, evidence-based strategies and reasonable adjustments.
- Establish and maintain school-wide systems to monitor student progress and oversee the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
- Work closely with school leadership teams, teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative and inclusive approach to student success.
- Oversee human, financial, and curriculum resources to enhance support services and drive positive outcomes.
