The Rheumatology Unit team are seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join them. In this role you will provide advanced clinical leadership and clinical expertise relevant to the specialty of Rheumatology working in collaboration with the Rheumatologist to support the clinical unit in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty of Rheumatology.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrate expert and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice.
  • Design, develop and implement innovative standards relating to improving facility/divisional performance.
  • In collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team, co-ordinate and formulate clinical policy and procedure that supports quality clinical practice, learning and research.
  • The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Rheumatology is to monitor and review rheumatology patients in an ambulatory setting who are being treated principally with disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARD's), biological disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARD's) and cytotoxic therapies.
  • Manage conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Psoriatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis in an ambulatory setting.
  • Educate patients undertaking treatments.
  • Maintain treatments, monitor, and review processes in the outpatient setting, avoiding admission of rheumatoid patients.
