Principal Governance Officer

An AO7 Principal Governance Officer vacancy is available in the Governance and Business Support Division of the Queensland Revenue Office (QRO). This role will be based in the Brisbane CBD.
In this role you will play a key part in ensuring that QRO meets its corporate obligations and legislative requirements. Leading a small team, you will be responsible for embedding governance, enterprise risk and complaints management frameworks, policies, and procedures to maintain high standards of integrity and regulatory compliance.

Your typical day as a Principal Governance Officer may include:
• Provide expert and practical advice on enterprise risk management and governance activities to lead a small team and support senior leaders across the organisation.
• Lead and co-ordinate the uplifting of enterprise risk management and governance activities such as internal and external audits, business continuity planning, complaints management to mature these processes across the organisation.
• Prepare comprehensive corporate reports, briefing notes and verbal briefings that offer insights and make recommendations to Senior Leaders and risk owners.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with risk owners, senior leaders and Queensland Treasury stakeholders through regular engagements, providing guidance and promoting their responsibilities in good governance and enterprise risk management.
• Coach and mentor the team to continuously improve. Analyse and challenge the current systems, governance and enterprise risk management practices and procedures, where needed develop new processes and tools that will be embedded into the core business.
You will be supported by a positive, constructive team and divisional leaders as you do your work.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
• Experience and expertise in leading and managing the development and implementation of good governance and enterprise risk management practices and processes, including corporate planning processes.
• High level negotiation, consultation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive and productive working relationships with staff at all levels within the organisation and Queensland Treasury.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
• Your experience as it relates to the key responsibilities of the role.
