Are you ready to bring your financial expertise to a role where your work directly supports the success of Queensland's elite athletes? Join the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) as we embark on an exciting period of growth and transformation. We are seeking an experienced and efficient financial accountant who thrives in a dynamic, high-performance environment.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing operational financial support and expertise to a range of financial activities. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Play a leading role in the timely preparation of the QAS's annual financial statements in compliance with the Financial Accountability Act 2009, relevant accounting standards, Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements and other pronouncements.
• Co-ordinate the Financial Internal Controls Self-Assessment process and the Head of Finance assurance report as part of the annual financial statements process.
• Assist in the timely and accurate preparation and review of relevant reporting to Queensland Treasury.
• Contribute to the timely end of accounting period closure processing, including reconciliations and accruals, to enable the timely development of the monthly financial report to the Senior Leadership Team, and the annual financial statements.
• Support the QAS's asset management framework by providing expert advice on asset accounting, recording and valuation policies, co-ordination of the annual stocktake, procedures and systems which contribute to enhanced asset management and satisfy financial reporting requirements.
• Play a leading role in the development and review of policies, plans, strategies and procedures including the development and maintenance of an up-to-date Financial Management Practice Manual to ensure there is continuous improvement of the financial management of the QAS.
