Oakleigh State School is seeking a Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, to join the team.

In this role, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by supporting the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate in maintaining a high standard of grounds and facilities.

You will carry out a variety of activities to ensure the school environment is well maintained, follow established instructions, and exercise independence in performing routine day-to-day services.

This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.

Your Opportunity 

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.

 You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will not be required to perform any task or repairs that would normally require the services of a qualified tradesperson.

The position reports directly to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate. 

Your Responsibilities 

As the Schools Officer, Grounds & Facilities, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Performing minor repairs and general maintenance (including pools and disability equipment)
  • Working closely with the Administration and Leadership team for the day to day operations of the school.
  • Managing grounds and gardens, including mowing, watering, and outdoor sports setup, including the Oakleigh State School Pool facility.
  • Handling cleaning duties outside regular hours, rubbish removal coordination, and safety checks
  • Overseeing school security systems, locking/unlocking facilities, and transporting school funds
  • Liaising with trades, staff, and students on facility issues
  • Ensuring WHS compliance and maintaining tools/equipment
  • Delivering/collecting mail and supplies, setting up rooms for exams/events, and moving furniture
