Role Details

The Dakabin Youth Hub, based at Dakabin State High School and operated by Children's Health Queensland is a space for young people to access wraparound support for material basics, social and emotional wellbeing and health support and to enhance learning and student engagement. The Hub endeavours to provide a safe space for young people to access a range of services in partnership with the school. Through engaging with the Hub, young people will be proactively supported to navigate the varied and complex life challenges.  

The position of Youth Engagement Officer – Identified will: 

  • Positively engage with young people, children, and families at the Dakabin Youth Hub within a soft-entry, relational approach.
  • Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth (as well as the wider student cohort), ensuring culturally responsive services and programs are accessible to the participants of the Dakabin Youth Hub.
    • Facilitate improved health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Dakabin youth through working in collaboration and partnership with Children's Health Queensland and other stakeholders including government representation, non-government organisations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education, health, and social services providers.
  • Partner with DoE staff and ensure complementary and comprehensive cultural support is available wherever possible.
  • The 0.5 FTE allocation is designed to cover five days a week during key operationally busy and youth engagement periods, particularly afternoon sessions.

The Dakabin Youth Hub is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, passionate, and youth-focused person to fill the unique and impactful role of Youth Engagement Officer.
