As well as gaining experience in traditional models of clinical pharmacy, the successful applicant will be given the opportunity to undertake specialised rotations in specialist areas of interest, keeping your environment thrilling and allowing a full scope of practice. About us:
Rockhampton Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Queensland and the main referral hub for the region. Rockhampton Hospital will play an important role in achieving the objectives set out in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy. We will deliver expert care close to home by investing in a range of specialist services at Rockhampton Hospital for all Central Queenslanders.
About the role:
- Dispense medication (inpatient, outpatient and discharge dispensing), in accordance with legislative, professional and ethical standards, ensuring effective and appropriate medications are provided for patients.
- Provide patient counselling (to outpatients and inpatients) on the appropriate use of medications.
- Maintain and distribute pharmacy stocks in accordance with local and state-wide policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Actively participate in Queensland Health and site-specific training program established for hospital Intern Pharmacists under the supervision of the Pharmacy Clinical Educator.
- Participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient/client safety and care.
- Use effective graded assertiveness and clear communication skills when dealing with staff and patients.
- Commit to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by actively participating in safety and quality practices.
About you:
Mandatory qualification/s: Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) qualification in Pharmacy is mandatory for this role.
- Enrolment as an approved Intern Pharmacist Training Program, which has been agreed with Central Queensland Health, before commencement of duties at Rockhampton Hospital in 2025.
- Eligibility for registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia/ Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) after satisfactory completion of the required pre-registration training period. (This requires the intern to undertake an Intern Training Program approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia as a registration requirement during the course of the year.)
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $43.68 - $58.59 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
