Your role within Policy, Performance and First Nations will support the department to improve performance and achieve better outcomes for the State through the setting up and delivery of the departments and Government’s long-term strategic reform agenda and objectives. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.

You will be part of Insights which is responsible for leading the department’s strategic evidence and evaluation agenda and delivering evidence-based input to inform strategic direction and delivery of housing and homelessness services and outcomes.

You will contribute to complex policy research, evaluation and analysis and development with a focus on housing and homelessness.

What you will be doing:
• Provide professional, authoritative and timely strategic advice to senior management on housing and homelessness policy issues of a complex nature.
• Collaborate with other jurisdictions, agencies and across the department to deliver on the Government's national and state policy commitments and reform agendas.
• Lead policy research, evaluation, analysis and coordination and providing advice on policy issues relevant to national and state reforms.
• Lead or contribute to the Cabinet briefing process across Policy, Performance and First Nations.
• Influence the development and coordination of national housing and homelessness policy design and direction, including contributing to national agreements.
• Support negotiation and consultation with a range of key stakeholders, including the Australian Government, other government agencies, and senior departmental staff to address housing and homelessness policy issues.
• Provide guidance on national research and data collections and publications for housing and homelessness services.
• Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.

The skills you will need include being able to:
• Have proven research and analytical ability and demonstrated capability in gathering information and strategic thinking to advise on policy direction.
• Have superior written and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, communicate, negotiate, influence, network and consult with stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members and complete challenging tasks by managing conflicting priorities and managing tight deadlines.
• Successfully use research, analysis and critical judgement to provide high quality advice and inform decision-making on social policy issues.
• Demonstrate personal responsibility in meeting objectives, including the ability to proactively recognise and resolve issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.

Mandatory Requirement
While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, sound knowledge of research and evaluation is highly desirable
