This is a temporary position for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.

Your Opportunity 

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will:

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.

You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature. As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will not be required to perform any task or repairs that would normally require the services of a qualified tradesperson.

The position reports directly to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate. 

Your Responsibilities 

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering and collecting mail, parcels, and documents
  • Preparing classrooms for exams and setting up activity/assembly halls, including arranging and relocating furniture
  • Cleaning and hosing drains and gutters
  • Assisting with the requirements of sporting events
  • Banking school funds
  • Locking and unlocking buildings
  • Ensuring compliance with WH&S requirements, including maintaining a safe work environment
  • Liaising with various internal and external personnel (e.g. tradespersons) on a variety of repair and maintenance issues
  • Communicating with the Principal or Business Manager regarding periodic maintenance of grounds and facilities
  • Maintaining ovals through regular mowing, watering, and soil care, as well as lawn and garden maintenance, including weeding and the use of insecticides and fertilisers where necessary
  • Maintaining grounds care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, and tractors, and arranging regular servicing
  • Performing other suitable duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position, as directed by the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate
