About the Role
The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is a diverse organisation that brings together environment, heritage protection, national parks, science, tourism, and innovation functions to help achieve government objectives for a better Queensland.
We are seeking a Deputy Director-General to lead our Tourism Division and deliver Destination 2045 - Queensland's Tourism Future, working closely with stakeholders to create sustainable growth, boost regional tourism, and maximise the Brisbane 2032 legacy.
The ideal candidate
We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative executive with proven success in complex leadership roles. You will bring:
- Extensive experience in tourism strategy, policy implementation, service delivery and stakeholder engagement
- A track record of delivering high-impact programs and projects across public and private sectors
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams
- Experience working with First Nations peoples and a commitment to inclusive and sustainable tourism
- Representing Queensland with credibility and confidence in high-level forums and complex negotiations.
