In the Senior Policy Advisor role, you will work as a team member in a highly dynamic environment and contribute to the development of strategic policy advice and the delivery of initiatives to improve road safety in Queensland.

The team operates on the forefront of innovation and proactively adopts new approaches to policy development such as complex systems analysis and human centred design approaches. This role provides an opportunity to use your strong policy, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills to contribute to a significant, interesting and challenging program of priority initiatives with a state-wide and national impact.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Identifying, researching and analysing policy issues, drawing on information from diverse or previously untapped sources.
• Developing policy advice and/or recommendations that use evidence, reflect good practice nationally and internationally, respond to government priorities and strategic directions, and contribute to improved road safety for the community.
• Researching and preparing a range of complex documents, including Cabinet submissions, options papers, reports, briefing notes, public discussion papers, sensitive correspondence and action plans.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders in other TMR business areas, other government agencies (Commonwealth, state and local), academia, industry and the community.
• Reviewing and analysing legislation and assisting with the progression of any required legislative amendments.

Highly desirable qualifications and conditions:
• Maintain a high standard of practice in strategic policy analysis, development and implementation.
• Contribute actively to team and corporate goals and take personal responsibility to deliver agreed outcomes.
• Communicate in a clear and succinct manner and adjust communication style to ensure messages resonate.
• Demonstrate self-awareness and a commitment to personal development and model high standards of professionalism and ethical behaviour.
• Ensure a safe and healthy workplace including compliance with workplace health and safety and employee rehabilitation legislation, codes of practice, standards, performance management practices and departmental policy and procedures.
