Principal Project Officer

As Principal Project Officer you will lead the client-side design management of public housing projects and provide design and property standards advice that informs capital works, renewal, and funding decisions. You will collaborate in a team setting and engage with diverse stakeholders to drive cost-effective and person-centred design solutions. Experience managing the design of multi-residential projects up to six storeys is required. You will report to the Manager, Design Team, and support the team’s ongoing management of housing design guidelines and property standards.

What you will be doing:
• Leading the design feasibility investigation and design-management of public housing projects, including bespoke projects with a focus on person-centred design.
• Leading co-design with internal and external partners and stakeholders to identify project scope and design responses that match client and program needs.
• Creating and interpreting complex written, oral and graphical communications in a simple and concise form.
• Preparing reports and correspondence on design and standards matters.
• Providing design and standards advice to senior leadership and critical business partners.
• Contributing to post-occupancy evaluation and the ongoing improvement of design guidelines for housing programs.
• Supporting and helping maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
The skills you will need include being able to:
• Understand and communicate the organisation's current and potential future role within government and the community and provide effective governance frameworks and guidance to enable high quality strategic, corporate, business, and operational planning and delivery.
• Clarify team and individual role and purpose and connection to strategic goals to support a culture of continuous improvement.
• Communicate with influence, articulating complex concepts and compelling rationales to diverse audiences, and promote the organisation's position with authority and credibility cross-government, cross-jurisdictionally and outside of government.
• Build and manage successful partnerships and relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Model and promote professional and ethical behaviour, strengthening a culture of integrity in your team and across the broader team.
• Undertake objective, critical analysis to draw accurate conclusions that recognise and manage contextual issues.

Current driver's licence
The successful candidate will be required to be a registered architect or licensed building designer or have a building industry design related qualification at degree level.
