An exciting permanent opportunity exists for a Manager, Driver Licensing Policy in the Licensing, Automated Vehicles & Registration team. The Manager will lead a team to deliver a program of policy and legislative work to ensure the State's driver licensing and vehicle registration frameworks continue to deliver road safety and access outcomes for Queenslanders.

In the role of Manager, you will lead a team to deliver a program of policy and legislative work to ensure the State's driver licensing and vehicle registration frameworks continue to deliver road safety and access outcomes for Queenslanders.

You will also lead policy projects on other issues including road rules, sanctions and penalties, personal information, identity management, road access and new laws for automated vehicles. In doing so you will engage with internal stakeholders, other government agencies and industry bodies at all levels to achieve optimal strategic, policy and business outcomes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead a complex program of work and lead a team that is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of policy and legislation that supports Queensland's driver licensing and vehicle registration frameworks.
• Plan, manage and coordinate team resources to ensure that business priorities, performance indicators, project deliverables and deadlines are achieved.
• Support your team to deliver solutions in response to emerging issues and to provide timely advice in response to high priority issues including media enquiries.
• Provide specialist policy advice to the Minister, the Director-General, senior departmental executives, and external stakeholders on issues which may have significant political, community and business impacts

Highly desirable qualifications and conditions:
• Experience in regulatory policy development and work program management, including project and team resourcing.
• Proven ability to gather evidence to support a position that takes account of all available relevant information.
• High level communication skills, within a policy context. Including the ability to effectively brief senior executives and other stakeholders on complex regulatory policy issues.
• Proven ability to deliver policy reform projects, initiatives, including participation in project delivery teams, to ensure outcomes are delivered in accordance with government commitments.
