The position supports administration of sister school partnerships, departmental international travel, and marketing and communications. The Department of Education International (DEi) sits within the Policy, External Relations and International division of the Department of Education. About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Global Engagement team within DEi as a Principal Project Officer. This role reports to the Manager, Global Engagement, and involves overseeing the development and delivery of various immersive global programs and opportunities for students, teachers, education leaders, and Queensland schools. These programs are delivered online, or via outbound and inbound immersion.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage and oversee the development and delivery of Global Engagement's online, inbound and outbound programs and prizes, such as the Premier's Anzac Prize. This includes leading project officers in planning, implementation, coordination, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring projects comply with relevant legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Lead event coordination for high-profile events such as the biannual DEi Symposium, delegations and Prize ceremonies with diverse audiences of international education stakeholders.
- Coordinate marketing functions, collaborating with project officers and advising the Director around development and communications activities related to Global Engagement initiatives.
- Support the promotion and administration of sister school relationships across the state, including compliance with the Foreign Arrangements Scheme.
- Oversee the functions of the International Travel Unit, supporting departmental travel for business and professional development.
- Assist the Manager with day-to-day responsibilities of the business unit by providing effective and efficient management, strategic direction, and operational procedures to ensure successful outcomes.
- Liaise with international and domestic partners to develop global engagement opportunities for Queensland students, teachers, and schools.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in guiding, motivating, and supporting a high performing team.
- Supervise and manage the work of a small team of project officers.
