Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service is looking for a dedicated Revenue Officer to join our team. In this vital role, you’ll provide an efficient, highly customer focussed service to ensure the smooth and accurate flow of our financial operations. This position includes the classification and issue of invoicing, receipting, banking and maintaining patient accounts, maintaining accuracy of information systems, extracting data and compiling reports.

Role Details

  • Ensure compliance of all relevant legislation policies and procedures within a financial environment. This includes but is not limited to the Financial Accountability Act, the Financial Management Practice Manual (FMPM), Mental Health Act, Guardianship & Administration Act, and Privacy Act.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of revenue and corporate patient information and billing systems such as HBCIS, S/4HANA, MediRecords, ieMR, and QHERS as well as intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ensure high standard of service is provided to all clients internal and external within acceptable timeframes as required in a confidential manner.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, processes and work practices providing feedback on recommendations for improvements to the supervisor.
  • Review daily discharge report and promptly raise invoices for chargeable services, generate invoices and send to debtors, health funds and patients for payment. Consult with health funds regarding rejections and incorrect assessments, actioning for resubmission as required.
  • Capture, maintain and update systems following audit and assessment of details received on Patient Election Forms and patient charts.
  • Operate Cashiering Office including customer services and receipting of all income for patients, outpatients and corporate accounts and prepare the daily banking cash reconciliation for all accounts raised in HBCIS, S/4HANA and MediRecords.
  • Follow-up overdue debts and credits, preparing refunds and escalating accounts for recovery as necessary.
  • Develop, review and update procedure manuals to ensure processes are being performed in line with legislative changes, supporting standardised functions and compliance.
  • Complete general administration duties including telephone and email enquiries, filing, photocopying, data entry, sorting and distributing internal/external mail and any other duties as directed.
  • Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
