Key responsibilities
The purpose of the Project Director (MRI) is to plan, coordinate and manage the Mooloolah River Interchange upgrade program to ensure completion in accordance with required timeframes, cost, quality and service standards. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the project design, development, and implementation phases of the projects, in close liaison with advisors and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on project progress against predetermined time, cost and quality specifications.
- Lead and manage the project team, consultants, and contractors to ensure all members are appropriately skilled and utilised, and to ensure deliverable, time and budgetary requirements are met.
Investigate and resolve complex engineering issues associated with the project to improve overall performance and ensure value for money. - Prepare and deliver submissions and reports relating to planning and technical issues and identify appropriate mitigation strategies to overcome problems or obstacles related to the projects.
- Contribute to public consultation activities and ensure that effective liaison is undertaken with community, local governments, and other major stakeholders.
- Provide specialist advice to senior leadership on all aspects of the project and make technical presentations as required.
- Identify and harness the necessary internal and external expertise to deliver project requirements, including the selection, engagement, and procurement of consultants and contractors.
- Promote Project culture and manage development and implementation of the total project plan in relation to integration, human resources, scope, communication, time, risk, cost procurement and quality.
- Act as "Representative of the Principal" for the delivery contracts, as defined and delegated at respective development/implementation phases.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
- A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position
Requirements of the role
- Applies a high understanding of contract management and project management principles and methodology to achieve desired outcomes and public value. Supported with extensive experience in infrastructure delivery or engineering operations, managing processes, systems and people while providing input into operation or system.
- Makes considered, ethical and courageous decisions based on insight into the broader context by identifying the underlying cause of issues through considered analysis and integration of various pieces of data and insight and is able to articulate complex concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, by presenting a clear and convincing rationale.
- Builds and sustains internal and external relationships and steers resources toward collaboration across boundaries for the delivery of desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and negotiate in difficult circumstances.
- Demonstrated leadership, deep knowledge and experience in managing people as well as wellbeing (health, safety, environmental) functions to ensure development and implementation of strategies that deliver tangible results.
- Required: Demonstrated experienced on major projects, managing and delivering project controls
