Department of Health are seeking experienced, hardworking and reliable Truck Drivers (Transport Officers) to transport linen, clinical and non-clinical supplies to hospitals and health facilities across Queensland.
These positions require qualified holders of a medium rigid, heavy rigid or multi-combination licences who can work in a fast-paced, team orientated distribution centre where movement and physical suitability to perform the manual handling tasks associated with completing the role are required. A high level of customer service and a positive attitude are a must to be successful in this role.
You will be responsible for:
- Manual loading and unloading of all vehicles using roll on/roll off trolleys, tallboys, pallets and/or roll cages in a safe manner.
- Delivery and collection of handling units in accordance with relevant schedules, work instructions, procedures and policies.
- Operate all heavy vehicles and associated vehicles as required within Queensland Government Road rules and in compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) this includes (not limited) licensing requirements, speeding, appropriate load restraint, tailgate operation, pre-operational requirements and safe driving behaviours.
- Comply with the organisation's policies on Heavy Vehicle National Law including pre-operational checks and fatigue recording keeping.
- Keep accurate, legible vehicle logs/driving records and submit to your Supervisor at the end of each shift. Vehicle logs and driving records are requirement under HVNL and the format of these documents (be in hard copy paper or electronic) is at management's direction.
- Mandatory cleaning of vehicle interior cab (daily) and body as per operational procedure and infection control requirements.
- Cleaning of roll cages / trolleys and/or tallboys where required.
- Reporting and recording vehicle faults and defects to your site Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Reporting all incidents and completing associated Risk Man reports for all workplace related incidents and near misses.
- At mutual agreement, you may be asked to work from another location with additional travel time provided.
- From time to time, you may be required to process third-party freight (3PL) at the direction of the Transport Supervisor. Support and training are provided.
- On occasion, you may be required to make courier deliveries and pickups (linen recovery) to health facilities in a van or other vehicle.
- Provided you have the appropriate license, you may be required to undertake stock movement using a range of equipment including a forklift.
