Join our Medical Surgical Ward as the Clinical Nurse Consultant, where you will demonstrate an advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice and decision making in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

This is a newly established role where you will be required to lead and deliver expert clinical leadership within the inpatient medical and surgical environments of Gladstone Hospital. Working in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide operational leadership across the unit, ensuring provision of contemporary, person-centred care in this clinical specialty at an advanced level.

About us:

Gladstone Hospital is a 79-bed hospital and offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including Emergency, General Medicine and Surgery, basic Orthopaedic, Clinical Investigation, Obstetrics, Maternity, Gynaecology, High Dependency and Coronary Care, Hospital in the Home, Palliative Care, Medical Imaging, Pathology, Paediatrics and Child Health. Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs Service, Oral Health, Allied Health and outreach/community-based facilities.

About the role:

  • This role has an operational and professional reporting line to Director of Nursing Gladstone Hospital.
  • This role will provide direct and indirect clinical expertise in patient care within the Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit at Gladstone Hospital.
  • This role has/has no financial and human resource delegations.

The Nurse Grade 7 is a Registered Nurse who:

  • Demonstrates an advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice.
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of decision making in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Undertakes operational leadership.
  • Works collectively to apply the principles of clinical governance.
  • Applies professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and midwifery and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
  • Takes responsibility for enacting strategies that supports a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.

About you:

Possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution or equivalent and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.

  • While not mandatory, tertiary qualifications in management or a willingness to work towards same would be well regarded.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
