• Proactively contribute to End-to-End Case Management practices ensuring programs and services, referrals, including cultural issues and considerations, are adequately addressed.
• Provide cultural support for prisoners as required during induction processes, case management interviews, reviews, Parole Board and interview processes as appropriate, and generally as required to support cultural safety.
• Work within multidisciplinary teams to manage the progression of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners through the correctional system, including the assessment of prisoners and the provision of reports to sentence management and professional staff on the outcomes of those assessments.
• Liaise with prisoners' families and appropriate support networks, including key internal and external stakeholders and the centre leadership team, to ensure individual social, emotional and cultural needs are met.
• Support the facilitation of the Elders Visitation Service as required.
• Contribute to centre-wide staff awareness initiatives highlighting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners.
• Provide culturally appropriate support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners during such times as: Sorry business, illness, family concerns, including assistance with accessing or completing leave of absence requests, medical services access and hospital services.
• Assist with the facilitation of rehabilitation and reintegration programs and services targeted at addressing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoner rehabilitation needs, particularly those programs that focus on meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners.
Identified Role: For this position, it is a genuine occupation requirement that it is filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person, as set out in Section 7 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) for the purposes in Section 25 of that Act.
