Waraburra State School is looking for two (2) Teacher Aides to join the team.

This role will support the literacy, numeracy, social, emotional, and cultural needs of students, while you work as part of a team of dedicated educators who collaborate to support lifelong learning and receive ongoing training and support to develop your skills.

This is a permanent part- time role, working 40 hours per fortnight at a FTE of 0.53.

Your Opportunity 

As the Teacher Aide, you will: 

  • Contribute to the provision of a quality educational service by assisting and supporting teachers with the preparation and enhancement of learning materials and associated activities.

The Teacher Aide reports to the Principal or nominated delegate as appropriate. The reporting relationship to teachers may be changed by the Principal on a regular basis to fulfil specific needs within the school. When supporting students with specific health procedures, a Teacher Aide will be under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse or medical practitioner.

Your Responsibilities 

As the Teacher Aide, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Assist students with classroom learning activities and tasks.
  • Support students with personal care, mobility, and behaviour as required.
  • Prepare and organise classroom materials and resources.
  • Supervise students in various school settings, including playgrounds, excursions, and specialist areas.
  • Support communication between students, staff, and families.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment, with a focus on indigenous perspectives and First Nations culture.
  • Display respect and empathy for students with high-level needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality, tact, reliability, and sensitivity when interacting with students and their families.
  • Assist students with disabilities and early childhood programs.
