About the role

The Advanced Scope Pharmacy Assistant contributes to patient care by providing pharmacists with advanced clinical support tasks under the direct and indirect supervision of a pharmacist to facilities within West Moreton Health including directly assisting pharmacists with patient related care tasks, in addition to managing stock and imprest portfolios.  This role also provides day to day operational support for the pharmacy assistant team at Ipswich Hospital under the direction of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level ability to apply advanced knowledge in pharmacy including knowledge of the healthcare system, advanced computer literacy, medical terminology, and general medical conditions.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, supervise and liaise effectively, with an understanding of the scope of practice in a complex and demanding work environment.
  • Strong ability to initiate, plan, perform and evaluate quality improvement activities under the guidance of a registered pharmacist.
  • High level of ability to provide a defined range of advaned pharmacy services to people with variable health literacy, under the supervision of a pharmacists.
  • High level knowledge of pharmacy funding arrangements (including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Special Access Scheme), clinical trials management, good manufacturing practice and current Australian pharmacy professional standards and guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Mandatory completion of an approved [HLT47115] Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support or higher/equivalent certificate relevant to hospital pharmacy and mandatory completion of [HLTPHA010] Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest module.
